Not when there are valid reasons

I thought this was a good analysis. It is a sad state for all of us that our politics, right and left, are about none other than...making fun of how women look.

I work professionally in policy marketing and comms, but I do not look like Hope Hicks or Lindsay Halligan.

But, these are the women we see in media. Trump *understands media very well*-- there are average looking people behind the scenes.

Most of my female colleagues are put-together, nice hair, fashionable and flattering clothes, normal makeup, etc.

The MAGA-Barbie look is a reaction to the last 10-15 years of "beauty inclusivity" and "kill the rich." Its like, "Okay? You hate beauty and you hate wealth? Watch this ---botox and Gucci boots--"

It is also 20% a glitzy Southern/Miami/"new money" thing-- signaling the refined WASPy Bush days are over.

The article could have been more critical of this, "Suzanne Lambert put out a satirical viral video titled “doing my makeup like the gorg maga girlies in my comments,” set to the tune of country star Gretchen Wilson’s “Redneck Woman.” She also mocks shopping at Wal Mart.

This was the “real” story behind the Sydney Sweeney backlash. All this mincing over a pun on jeans was really just a disguise for blatant jealousy.

No, I detest Karoline Leavitt because she’s an opportunist who sacrificed the interest of voters in her own home state in order to elevate her national profile. She’s the exact kind of daddy’s money superficial conservative that makes people dismiss Republican women. She’s awful

😂😂 it’s just them finally trying to punch back. We’ve been mocking the physical ugliness of the left and the weirdly factual beauty of the right by comparison.

Yeah, it’s petty and mean, particularly from a mainstream publication that should show more class. The mockery of the left has been social media memes for many years. But that’s just random folks, not published. 🙄

Oh I like that part, what I dislike is the lying.

You lost me with, “But only one is honest in its fakeness.” What a stupid statement.

Is she beautiful? Or just for a right winger.

I’m not especially right-wing. She’s cute. Not a knockout but far from ugly. The lip injections aren’t my favorite on anyone but plenty of my very liberal female friends in Manhattan have them too. She’s still what most would call “office cute” though. A better example would probably be Lindsey Halligan.

They're targets because they try so hard and fail so miserably

That is definitely not why I hate her.

There’s something calming about a look that doesn’t pretend it happened naturally, like a building that admits it will collapse.

> the uniform of what has been called the “West Village Girl”—a plain cropped T-shirt, straight bluejeans and sneakers. Older women have also embraced a casual and masculine look.

It sounds like “in a very different way” is a euphemism for a negation symbol. I am surprised that Ms Perry — of all people — in the WSJ — of all places — seems obliged to pretend that a casual and masculine look is not the opposite of extremely feminine beauty.

Cassidy Crockett is very helpful in understanding the NYC cool mom aesthetic. It’s all very monochromatic and baggy. Worth watching her on Insta for insights
