The short answer is that Free Expression is a daily newsletter on life, politics and culture from the Opinion pages of The Wall Street Journal.
You can easily sign up to start receiving it in your inbox every morning by visiting this link and entering your email address.
It’s free! But without your email address we can’t send you the newsletter.
You can also follow Free Expression on Substack, if you aren’t already, by clicking this button:
(It’s also free. But without giving too much away, there’s more in the daily newsletter than we publish here on Substack.)
Here’s the long answer.
At Free Expression we believe in democratic self-government and the freedom to make your own economic choices, the values that have animated the work of the Journal editorial page since Charles Dow set them out 130 years ago.
But we understand that our readers are—and have always been—more than rational economic beings or politically committed partisans. They are complicated and curious. They seek knowledge and nuance. Above all, they want to listen to an argument and decide for themselves.
The Free Expression newsletter doesn’t ignore what goes on in Washington or on Wall Street, but looks beyond—to the culture and conversations that make this country unique. We have our views, and will state them forcefully, but are happy to hear from those who disagree.
Free Expression is a place where differences can sort themselves out through discussion, making us all better off even if we don’t end up seeing eye-to-eye.
